Young Romanians can compete with the best in the world

Students Win Medals at the FIRST World Championship - Robotics

The results achieved by Romanian teams at international competitions show that talent and teamwork can take you very far. Romania achieved a historic sweep of the world rankings at the 2026 FIRST Tech Challenge World Robotics Championship, held in Houston, USA, where it claimed the top four spots globally.

The brilliant teams that put Romania on the global technology map are:

  • Velocity Robotics Team (Brăila) – World Champions
  • Heart of RoBots (Buzău) – 2nd Place Worldwide
  • Quantum Robotics (Bucharest) – 3rd Place Worldwide
  • AICitizens (Focșani) – 4th Place Worldwide

Alongside these on-field results, the outstanding ambassadors of Romanian excellence were also recognized as finalists for the prestigious FIRST Leadership Award: Maya Soare, Ștefan Niți, David Miklos, and Laura Ionescu.

The achievements of these teams demonstrate the crucial role of high schools, associations, and mentor teachers who invest time, resources, and trust in technology education and modern student-focused projects.

Today, technology is changing the world faster than ever, and young people who learn to create, think algorithmically, and collaborate will shape the future.

Smarval aims to promote excellence, initiative, and the courage to build valuable projects.
