The World’s Most Expensive City Break Cost as Much as a Year’s Salary

There are luxury city-break packages sold for over 100,000 euros for a few days – private suites overlooking the Eiffel Tower, on-demand helicopters, a personal chef. These are extreme cases, designed more as one-of-a-kind experiences than ordinary vacations, but they show just how wide the spectrum can be behind a simple phrase: “a weekend in the city.”

The difference between that luxury city break and an ordinary one isn’t necessarily in what you see – the museums, the streets, the cafes are the same for everyone – but in how you get there and where you sleep. That kind of detail, however far from the extreme, is why two people can have completely different experiences in the exact same city.

The good news is that most of the real pleasures of a city break – a good view, coffee at just the right moment, a street discovered by accident – carry no luxury price tag at all.

Everything else just depends on how much you want to spend on comfort.
