At Smarval, we respect your privacy. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have under GDPR 2016/679.

2. What data we collect

We only collect data needed to provide our services:

Data you provide: Name, email, phone, message – when you use our contact form.
Data collected automatically: IP address, browser type and pages visited, technically logged by our hosting server (access logs), as well as cookies. See Cookie Policy.
Consent data: Your cookie preferences, stored by Complianz.
Statistics data: If you accept the “Statistics” category, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the website: pages visited, visit duration, device and browser type, approximate country or city, and the source of the visit. We use it only in aggregate, to improve the website. See Cookie Policy.
Advertising data: If you consent, Google AdSense and our affiliate partners may use cookies to show relevant ads and track purchases made through affiliate links. See Cookie Policy.
Data entered into calculators and tests: is processed only in your browser. It is not sent to us, not stored, and disappears when you close the page.

We do not collect sensitive data unless you provide it voluntarily.

3. How we use your data

To respond to requests: When you contact us via the form.
To provide services: Operating, maintaining and improving the Smarval website.
Statistics: To understand which pages are useful to visitors and how we can improve the website.
For legal obligations: Invoicing, accounting records, ANSPDCP requests.
Advertising & affiliate commissions: To display ads through Google AdSense and to track purchases made through affiliate links, so we can earn a commission.

Legal basis for processing: your consent (for statistics, advertising and affiliate cookies – you can withdraw it at any time through the cookie banner), our legitimate interest (replying to your messages, running and securing the website), and our legal obligations.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We only share it with:

Technical providers: Hosting, email, Google Analytics (statistics) and our contact form (Google Forms) – all under GDPR agreements.
Authorities: Only if required by law.
Advertising & affiliate partners: Google AdSense, and the affiliate programs we participate in (2Performant, Amazon Associates, Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Viator) – only anonymized or click-level data, not your identity, unless you interact directly with their websites.
Ko-fi: if you choose to support Smarval voluntarily, payment happens directly on the Ko-fi website, under its own privacy policy; we never receive your card details.
No one else.

5. How long we keep data

Contact forms: 2 years from last contact.
Accounting data: 10 years, as required by law.
Cookies: Durations vary by cookie type and provider – you can view and manage them at any time through the cookie banner. See Cookie Policy
Statistics data (Google Analytics): up to 14 months, after which it is deleted automatically.

6. Your GDPR rights

You have the right to: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent.

Submit a request via our Contact. We reply within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Romanian data protection authority (ANSPDCP) – www.dataprotection.ro.

7. Security & transfers

We use a secure connection (SSL), backups, and restricted access. Some providers (for example Google) may process data outside the EU, under the safeguards provided by the GDPR (Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework).

8. Affiliate Disclosure

Some links on Smarval are affiliate links (such as 2Performant and its partner stores, Amazon Associates, Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Viator). If you make a purchase through them, Smarval may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This does not influence our recommendations. As an Amazon Associate, Smarval earns from qualifying purchases.
